economic development and environmental quality? The Town needs
a volunteer to serve as its representative on the Rutland Regional
Planning Commission and attend a monthly evening meeting (third
Tuesday of the month). Get involved. Call the Town

PITTSFORD TIMBER
SALE
This winter the
Town of Pittsford is planning a timber sale that is to occur in the
Town Forest behind the Town Offices on Plains Road. The small
thinning is designed to increase forest health and productivity and
create a new age class of trees, while maintaining the aesthetics
and trail network. The types of trees being removed are mostly
poorer quality hardwood trees to increase growing space for the
better quality trees that will remain. There will also be some
mature shade intolerant (aspen & paper birch) and some more shade
tolerant (beech) trees that will be removed. This is to occur in
conjunction with work that is also being done on the adjacent
Caverly property. The Caverly property will receive a similar
treatment, but fewer mature trees will be removed as fewer mature
trees exist there. Pittsford loggers are invited to participate in
a competitive bid process to harvest the trees.
A mandatory pre-bid
tour will be held on November 6, 2009 at 9 AM behind the Town
Offices. Sealed bids will be accepted by the Town Manager up to and
including 1:00 PM on November 20, 2009. Please direct any questions
